Could these be the Indiana Jones DVD covers?

February 17, 2003 - Something big is definitely brewing at Paramount. And I don't mean their support of DTS with the upcoming special editions of the Jack Ryan movies.

Last week, possible confirmation of the Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD came on the part of a Home Theater Forum post by Paramount Home Entertainment's Martin Blythe. One of the forum members expressed some doubts about the movies arriving on DVD this year, and Martin replied to the thread with three simple words:

"Be optimistic Dan."

That was Thursday of last week, and if that "confirmation" wasn't enough for you, one can always bring up how Spielberg has been dropping hints about the DVDs in the interviews he's been doing to promote the theatrical release of Catch Me if You Can. If that's still not enough for you, then this may be.

Sunday morning the image you can see below popped up online. It came from a Danish DVD store/website and is apparently from a 2003 Paramount retailer catalog. Now, we're not saying that it's absolutely real, but the covers do match the packaging style that Paramount used for the most recent Young Indiana Jones and Indian Jones video releases.

That packaging clearly labeled each installment with an episode, so people could tell what order they took place in. With Lucasfilm currently prepping a big release of Young Indy on DVD, it makes perfect sense for Paramount to use the same packaging design for the DVDs.

De esta no tengo muchas esperanzas en region 1, de buenas que en region 4 tambien sacan excelentes ediciones.

Nunca me gusto eso de que consideren los capítulos de la serie Young Indiana Jones como los primeros capítulos de la saga, aunque nunca los ví más que en video, para mí la saga sólo son estas tres movies y chance la cuarta que sale el año que entra

No es por molestra, pero con esto de la trilogia de Indiana Jones yo como Santo Tomas:

Hasta no ver, no creer.

Ojala y salgan este año, seria una trilogia menos, y ya nada mas falta que George Lucas se digne a sacar las versiones originales de Star Wars y estoy hecho.

February 18, 2003 - This past weekend has been crazy for Indiana Jones fans. Lots of "news" about the possible DVD release has come out, but today we had the chance to speak with Paramount to get to the bottom of it all.

The official response from Paramount about the box art that popped up on the 'net this weekend is that they never saw that cover art before the scan hit the 'net.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there's something going on involving Indiana Jones and DVD, and you can just look at Spielberg's comments on the subject to know that they'll most likely be hitting DVD in late 2003. Also, we've received emails from sources in the retail and marketing area that also support a Holiday 2003 release of the trilogy.

Sigue el tema sobre la trilogía que aparentemente verá la luz en noviembre ( y esta vez debemos creerlo? :roll: ). Acá hay una info que explica un poco lo de los cover puestos más arriba y muestra un arte inconcluso que podría ser parte del set a venir:

I've been assured that this explanation comes directly from a sales representative at Paramount Scandinavia and that the real Indy DVDs will certainly look much different when they are released (possibly no chapters numbers at the bottom). Paramount's official U.S. retail site has started listing the titles and even has incomplete key art posted for each. Most interesting is this piece:

Word has reached us from a number of independent industry and retail sources that Paramount is preparing their announcement of the Indiana Jones Trilogy DVD box set. The buzz is that the studio will make the news official in the next few weeks. Our sources are telling us that the set will be 4 discs in all - 1 each for the films (all in anamorphic widescreen) along with a 4th disc of bonus content. The films will reportedly only be available in the box set. And the set is expected to see worldwide release in November. Thanks to everyone who's sent in information on this. Keep in mind, that this is still very much in the rumor stage. But even the various talent involved has confirmed that the DVDs are in the works, so we felt it important to post this information as a sort of heads-up. Of course, we'll post any and all official news on this release in the daily column the moment it comes in. Stay tuned...

o sea que para Noviembre ya tendriamos la trilogia de Indy, en un set de 4 dvd's.

Pues estar'ia de lujo y en un box set pues que mejor, esperemos una gran edicion de Paramount y haber si lo traslada para Region 4.

pues siendo de Paramount y siendo un box set de catálogo como El Padrino pues estoy 200% seguro que sale en Z4 con el mismo empaque que la Z1, al mismo tiempo y con TODOS LOS EXTRAS SUBTITULADOS....

conclusiones al respecto del anuncio oficial:

1. inicialmente en la nota de prensa se indicaba que sólo "Cazadores del Arca Perdida" seria la digitalmente remasterizada pero ahora mencionan:

es bueno, puesto que TODO el mundo iba a reclamar este detalle.... aunque ya están reclamando la falta de DTS....

2. es bueno saber que los tres títulos tendrán subs en español, pero creo que existen más posibilidades que los extras también los tengan, de todas maneras será un estreno mundial y la Z4 no se quedará atrás..... sobre los extras subtitulados en Z1 el principal indicio sería la colección de musicales que sacó Paramount en Z1 (léase Grease, Fiebre de Sábado por la Noche, etc.... ).... además, es bueno que Georgito no haya metido su cuchara mucho, ya que de ser así, hubiera salido Indy con doblaje y no con subtítulos.....

Aunque no han detallado los extras, estas líneas mencionan mucho pero siempre hubiese sido mejor que los coloquen en items.... esperemos que pronto la web oficial los coloque indicándolos muy minuciosamente.....

Pues e ven muy buenos esos empaques mi Romino, se ve que va a estar genial esta edicion y si habrá que irse por la de Region 1, lo del DTS habra que irse descartando, es un producto donde esta involucrado George Lucas y va a ser mas importante el THX que el DTS, ni modo, pero asi va a ser.
