Marking the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' "British invasion," Capitol Records will reissue the Fab Four's first four U.S. albums on November 16th. The Capitol Albums vol. 1 will include the American editions of "Meet the Beatles," "The Beatles Second Album," "Something New" and "Beatles '65" -- all originally released in 1964. When Capitol debuted The Beatles catalog on CD in 1987, via EMI's Parlophone imprint, the albums were issued worldwide in mono. This four-disc box set will include both stereo and mono versions of each album, mastered from the original tapes, available on each disc. The stereo versions will be either true stereo or "duophonic," a process created by Capitol in the '60s using two mono channels that were equalized, compressed and reverbed. The box set, available for a limited time only, will include miniature replicas of the original album covers, along with a 48-page booklet. There are no plans to release the four individual CDs separately and there is no word yet on a date for "The Capitol Albums vol. 2." Retail is $69.98.

Pues...
