Si su consola XBOX esta fabricada antes del 23 de octubre de 2003, llamen al número gratuito de su país para que les cambien el cable de energía, ya que tiene un defecto que puede causar corto circuito e inclusive incendio de alfombras o pisos de sus casas.

De echo hasta gente se ha quemado con ese problema. El cable esta defectuoso y se calienta en el uso prolongado del aparato (o sea si te avntaste el Halo completito sin parar a grabar ni descanzar, tu casa debe de tener un buen olor a carbon quema'o)

Que lástima que no lo puedan descargar por X-Box Live, o de perdido por Windows Update 8)
Gracias por el tip, al rato voy a checar mi caja x para ver la fecha de fabricación, aunque mi cable debe de estar congelado porque ya tiene más de 15 días que no enciendo mi XBOX, y cuando juego a lo mucho juego media hora y lo apago :roll:.

Así parece Edmundo, a mi me llegó igual ayer el correo, y tanto para USA como para México manejan los mismos tiempos, así que si en USA creen que va a tardar 3 semanas, imagínense en México :roll:.

Xbox Users Question Power Cord Recall

Xbox users across several forums including Xbox Scene are questioning Microsoft's motives for replacing just the power cords to their gaming consoles, rather than recall the entire unit. Some claim the new cords appear to be quite a bit larger than the older ones, and include a circuit breaker within the plug.
"The real problem is the Foxlink power supply. There have been numerous reports of 'loose power connectors' in Xboxes, and the cause of this is that the solder joints on the [power supply unit] have actually broken where the connector mounts to the board, which can result in the XBox not powering on, or possibly even sparks, smoke, and fire," one user wrote, calling the power supply a "timebomb."
Others claimed that owners of older Xbox units were receiving a different sized cord than those with newer devices. "If the 'power cord recall' is just to stop the [older units] from starting a fire, why are newer machines getting replacement power cords?" another user asked.
To its defense, Microsoft denied any reports of power supply or soldering problems. In a statement to BetaNews, Microsoft reiterated the purpose of the recall was a "precautionary measure" and done for safety reasons.
"The replacement power cords are designed to protect consumers and their Xbox consoles from rare electrical component failures. The cord this consumer received is designed to shut off power to the Xbox if it detects an electrical condition called 'sustained overvoltage.' This rare condition can be caused by things like downed power lines in a wind storm or faulty wiring in a house," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
As to the issue of different sized replacement power cords, Microsoft said "not all cords that we supply to program participants will look the same. Which type of cord is shipped depends on the date the console was manufactured and the country where it is used."

At first I commented in another thread, but I feel that this is important enough to deserve its own thread.
So, here's the deal. MS lied.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Xbox power cords. MS just had the recall to cover their butts (they had to do something, but recaling every 1.0/1.1 console would be way too expensive).
The real problem is the Foxlink power supply. There have been numerous reports of "loose power connectors" in xboxes, and the cause of this is that the solder joints on the PSU have actually broken where the connector mounts to the board, which can result in the xbox not powering on, or possibly even sparks, smoke, and fire.
this is a picture taken on one of MY OWN Foxlink 1.0/1.1 power supplies, and sure enough, the solder joints are broken. I checked another psu, they were broken too. So, although MS reports "about 1 in 10,000 failures", the problem is actually much more common, but usually has no results. The Foxlink PSU is a timebomb.
So, instead of taking the costly duty of recalling all older xboxes, what do they do? They give you a power cord with this huge GFI thing. This in no way will solve the problem, it is merely a bandaid. So, when your PSU sparks and shorts out, it just trips a switch instead of catching fire, but your xbox still doesn't work.
With the newer xboxes, you get a replacement power cord that doesnt look any different. Why? Because theres nothing wrong.
All of you with a 1.0 or 1.1, I would HIGHLY suggest checking to see if you have a foxlink PSU, and if you do, to resolder these 2 joints, a huge blob on em seems to fix the problem.
This was MS's uber-lame attempt at a coverup.

Hoy 15 de marzo me llegó mi cable de reemplazo, exactamente 3 semanas tal como pronosticó Microsoft.
Yo lo pedi hace como 1 mes o mas?, y por fin me llego el viernes pasado 8 abril

Yo tengo una duda... este cable nuevo es porque definitivamente el anterior pone en riesgo el XBOX??? o solamente lo mandan como protector para los cambios de voltaje???
Resulta que con este cable nuevo, como tiene la dichosa función de apagarse automáticamente al detectar una variación ene el voltaje, ya van dos o tres veces que se me apaga el XBOX en pleno juego y es frustrante.... y las otras veces llego y tengo que prender el cable y nuevamente configurar la hora y el calendario del XBOX (ya ven que no cuenta con batería interna).
La verdad esque estoy tentado a dejarle el cable anterior... pero no se en realidad si estoy poniendo en verdadero riesgo la consola o no... ¿uds. qué opinan??

Cómprate un mini-extintor de esos para auto cuando estés jugando o lo que puedes hacer es tener cerca de tu xbox una buena ventilación ya sea un A/C o de perdido un aire lavado si usas el cable anterior.
Para el nuevo, conéctalo a un buen regulador de voltaje (como el que debes de utilizar para tu PC), si con esto no funciona; entonces trata de llamar a algún técnico electricista o a la CFE para que revise las conexiones eléctricas de tu casa.
Yo tengo el cable nuevo a un regulador y no he tenido ningún problema, si no tienes un regulador sería idoneo que le pusieras uno y luego probar a ver que tal.
