Universal has released early details on Law & Order: The Third Year (1992-93 season) which stars Jerry Orbach, Paul Sorvino, Michael Moriarty, Chris Noth and Richard Brooks. This three-disc set will include all twenty-two episodes of the third season, each of which will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame along with English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo tracks. English, French and Spanish subtitles will also be provided. I'm afraid we have no details on extra material for this one yet, but we'll let you know just as soon as we hear anything. You'll be able to own this one from the 24th May, priced at around $59.98.

Law & Order - Briscoe arrives: Official 3rd Season Announcement



In late January we posted a story relaying info from Universal Studios press release that mentioned a May 17th release of the 3rd Season of Law & Order. That date has since slipped by a week, but fans will be very happy to know that the release is finally, formally announced!


Law & Order - The 3rd Year/1992-93 Season arrives on May 24th, featuring 22 episodes on 3 dual-sided, double-density DVD-18s. Cost is $59.98 SRP for 1045 minutes running time. Video is full screen, and audio is English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. You'll also get subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. Extras, if any, have not been announced yet.

This is the season where the late Jerry Orbach became part of the show's main cast as Det. Lennie Briscoe, in an episode about a third of the way into the season, right at the time Paul Sorvino's Sgt. Phil Cerreta is departing. Guest stars include Claire Danes, Felicity Huffman, Adam Arkin, Edie Falco, Dan Hedaya, Julianna Margulies, Allan Arbus, and Jorja Fox, among many others.

Last Monday saw the announcement of Law & Order - The 3rd Year/1992-93 Season, finally coming to DVD on May 24th. At the time we didn't have a list of bonus material for this compilation, but now Universal has provided it, courtesy of an advertisement aimed at retailers, published in industry trade magazines such as Video Business:

On top of that, Universal's ad mentions a 10-off deal available for fans who buy the first or second season DVD sets (the 14th season, also currently available on DVD, is *NOT* mentioned as being included in this promotion):

That's all that is said about this offer, at least so far. No word on any part of the process of getting that $10 savings, or even whether this is an at-register savings, or via a rebate (though almost all studio-offered deals of this nature are by a mail-in rebate, so expect that). We're sure that the details will be either on or in the box, though, so just look for it there.
