Tabitha - Sony announces Tabitha - The Complete Series



As predicted, Sony Picture Home Entertainment is announcing today that Tabitha - The Complete Series will arrive on DVD in stores on June 21st, the same day that the first season sets of Bewitched will show up. As you undoubtedly recall, Bewitched was a 1964 sitcom about a mortal (Darrin Stephens) who married a witch (Samantha), and in the second season they had a daughter together: Tabitha. Tabitha turned out to be a witch, although her younger brother Adam (first seen in the sixth season) was a mortal like his father. In 1977 the spin-off Tabitha came to television, showing a grown-up witch coming into her own.

Tabitha starred Lisa Hartman (Knots Landing) in the title role, with David Ankrum seen as grown-up brother Adam. Robert Urich co-starred as Paul Thurston, before moving on to roles in Soap and Vegas. The cast was rounded out by Mel Stewart and Karen Morrow as Aunt Minerva. Guest stars including Bernard Fox reprising his Bewitched role as Dr. Bombay, and Sandra Gould and George Tobias also reprising Bewitched roles in one episode, as Gladys and Abner Kravitz, Samantha's nosy neighbors from the original show.

Tabitha - The Complete Series will be a 2-DVD set running 325 minutes and listing for $29.95 SRP. DVDPlanet.com already has this up for pre-order for $20.97. Tabitha - Complete Series truly complete! Rare alternate pilot included!



The other day it was our pleasure to report on the announcement for Tabitha - The Complete Series. Rumors about that release have stated that the show's DVD set would include a hard-to-find alternate pilot with different cast playing the title which and her mortal brother, Adam. Sony has now confirmed that this will be part of this release:

Samantha and Darrin Stephens' little girl is all grown up and out on her own in TABITHA, the enchanting spin-off series. Starring Lisa Hartman as a young, single working witch, Tabitha adds a little magic and fun to the lives of her relatives and friends including mortal brother Adam (David Ankrum), guardian witch Aunt Minerva (Karen Morrow) and boss Paul Thurston (Robert Ulrich). Includes the entire 12-episode run plus the rarely seen original pilot episode starring Liberty Williams and Bruce Kimmel as the Stephens siblings.

Don't worry about the fact that Liberty Williams didn't last in the role of Tabitha, though...she found work soon afterward as the voice of Jayna, one of the Wonder-Twins from SuperFriends. It will be interesting to put a face to the voice, eh? You'll get to find out this Summer; this release will hit stores on June 21st!
