America's Funniest Home Videos - Shout! Factory announces Volume 1 set

Shout! Factory has just sent over a press release outlining their plans for America's Funniest Home Videos, starting with a 4 disc set in July. The release date has changed from the previous news we posted in March. Here's the press release:

4-DISC DVD SET ARRIVES JULY 26th
LOS ANGELES, CA - Shout! Factory has signed a six year agreement with Vin Di Bona Productions and ABC to release the long-running television comedy series "America's Funniest Home Videos" on DVD. The first title resulting from the agreement is a 4-disc box set, America's Funniest Home Videos: Volume 1, which will contain 12 one-hour episodes from the series' 2002 season, featuring Emmy Award*-winning host Tom Bergeron. In addition to the 12 episodes, this premiere AFV release will include the "300th Episode Celebration," which aired as a two-part episode. Future AFV titles to be released through 2006 will include subsequent season box sets and individual "best-of" DVDs. The America's Funniest Home Videos: Volume 1 DVD set will be available in stores July 26th for the suggested retail price of $39.98.

ABC's longest running comedy series first aired in 1989 and quickly became an American institution. The videos, submitted by viewers, offer big laughs and compete to win big money. From practical jokes to home improvement plans gone awry, from animal mishaps to just flat out strange behavior, "America's Funniest Home Videos" continues to pull out all the stops presenting a hilarious look at everyday people caught on tape in their most uproarious, unexpected and most embarrassing moments. Now in its 15th season, "America's Funniest Home Videos" has given away over $7 million in prize money and evaluated more than half a million videotapes from home viewers.

America's Funniest Home Videos - Cover & Disc Art for Highlight Discs From Bergeron's First Year

It's been less than a week since we posted the press release from Shout! Factory explaining all the details about the July 26th release of America's Funniest Home Videos - Volume 1 with Tom Bergeron. As you know, it's a 4-DVD set that covers lots of great moments from the show's 11th Season (the year Bergeron took over), the highlight of which is the $100,000 season-winning video. This is just the first in a series of AFHV releases from Shout!; you can look forward to more DVD releases coming soon, including titles by season and theme. While we wait, though, here's your first look at the box and disc art for the first compilation:
