Warner has kindly sent over artwork for a four-disc collector's edition of Ben Hur which should be arriving in shops this September. The set has yet to be officially announced I'm afraid, so details are still pretty sketchy at the moment. However, we can confirm that the set will feature an all-new transfer from newly restored 65mm elements, as well as the original 1925 silent film version of Ben-Hur. As for the extra material, you should expect an all new documentary, scene specific commentary by Charlton Heston, a Making of an Epic Documentary, screen tests and more. We'll bring you the full spec rundown, just as soon as we get it. For now though, here's our first look at the official region one package artwork:

Mmmm dificil dificil tengo la edición original R4 que de por si ya está muy bien, es Wide anamórfico, 5.1, con audiocomentario, documental, pruebas de cámara, galerías y trailer.........

Lo que el viento se llevó si la cambién por la Collector´s 4 disc porque era una diferencia abismal, en este caso esperaré un poco..

Pero vaya que me hace ojitos esta nueva edición.

Si y solo si trae subs...

es un hecho que viene con subtítulos en español la pelìcula (que dicho sea de paso, viene con nuevo transfer).... pero también lo es que la Z1 no viene con los extras subtitulados cosa que en su momento la Z4 si los tendrá... yo por mi lado esperarè la Z4....

pues con eso de que ya van a salir "casablanca" y "lo que el viento se llevó" en ediciones perronas en r4, no dudo que esta salga también por acá meses despues...

La version original trae subs, asi que no veo porque esta no. Pinta para una excelente edicion 8)

OJO Edmundo, la peli viene subtitulada de todas maneras... pero los buenos extras que promete esta edición no... así que por eso la alternativa de la Z4....

Yo no tengo ninguna edición, es probable que compre esta en el futuro.

Bueno por aca es dificil conseguir ediciones asi de lujo, a no ser que sean peliculas supertaquilleras recientes o muy populares... asi que veo dificil que lleguen a vender la r4 por aca... o al menos sera dificil de encontrar. Asi que lo mas probable es que me quede con la r1. Lo mismo aplica para gone with the wind.

También tengo la región 4, que de hecho tambien agarra en región 1, estoy contento con la que tengo, todavía alcanzé la de la cajita de cartón.

Aunque también habrá que ver que tal está el transfer nuevo, para mi es lo unico en que podria mejorar ya que con el audio no creo que se pueda hacer más.

Por suerte yo también la compré cuando aun venía en snapper desplagable, igual que la edicion de aniversario del exorcista.

Ya lo pensé bien y siempre si la cambio por esta nueva edición porque es casi seguro que como extra incluyan !!!!LA VERSIÓN DE NIBLO!!!! Así como lo oyen.

Yay! bastante impresionante, es el tratamiento que merece Ben-Hur, pero habrá que decir que la edición original se ve muy bien.

A mi nada mas en este caso y en El Exorcista: 25 Aniversario porque no son como las demás, es como desplegable de adentro y se ve chida la imagen que trae impresa.
Pero solo en esos 2 casos prefiero snapper, en las demás no porque son muy frágiles.

Ah! También el primer tiraje de Ciudadano Kane Edición Especial era así, pero la mía se rayó de tanto uso jajaja y ahora la tengo en amaray.

William Wyler's epic masterpiece has been newly remastered from the original 65mm film elements. The DVD now boasts more than 10 hours of bonus features including an all-new documentary on the film's influence with leading filmmakers including Ridley Scott (Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator) and George Lucas (Star Wars films), a making-of documentary hosted by Christopher Plummer, scene specific commentary by Charlton Heston, rare screen tests, a reproduction of the original theatrical souvenir program, plus the 1925 silent version of the film with musical score by Carl Davis. In addition, a separate Ben-Hur Four-Disc Collector's Edition will be available with a Bible study guide. Both editions will sell for $39.92 SRP/ $29.95 MAP. Orders are due August 9.

About Ben-Hur

With 100,000 costumes, 8,000 extras, 300 sets and a budget that, at the time, was the most expensive in MGM's history, Ben-Hur is widely considered to be one of the most accomplished Biblical-era epics ever made. Based on Lew Wallace's best-selling novel and adapted by Karl Tunberg and a number of uncredited writers including Gore Vidal and Maxwell Anderson, Ben-Hur stars Charlton Heston, Stephen Boyd, Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Hugh Griffith, Martha Scott, Cathy O'Donnell and Sam Jaffe.

Heston brings a solid physical and moral presence to the title role of Judah Ben-Hur, and his charismatic performance earned him one of the film's 11 Academy Awards (a feat equaled only by Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King). After his boyhood friend Messala's fanatic loyalty to Rome makes him a powerful enemy, Jewish nobleman Judah Ben-Hur (Heston) is found guilty of an attempted murder he did not commit. His family is banished and he is enslaved on a warship. Yet, through his ferocity in a fierce sea battle, Ben-Hur is able to escape and become a horse trainer. To exact his revenge, Ben-Hur competes against Messala (Boyd) in the Roman chariot races. They race, locked in a battle to the death. Barely surviving, Ben-Hur forsakes the sword for Christ and finally finds redemption.

Espectacular, ah y por fin George Lucas dirá que se fusiló la carrera de carruajes de Ben-Hur para la de Pods en E1... y terminó siendo lo único bueno del primer episodio SW.

Cuantas ediciones buenas se vienen para el segundo semestre... mi "wishlist" va a reventar. :cry:

Hay algo que no entiendo. En amazon ya esta para preordenar, pero la edicion "con el estudio de la biblia" tiene el mismo precio que la edicion sin el estudio. Sera un error, no?

El artwork, al menos de la carátula, es el que menciona rodo arriba y que puedes ver en dvdanswers.

Justamente.. me referia a ver todo lo demas.. la cajita abierta, los discos, etc. Me conformo con ver la contraportada.

Las comparaciones de DVDBeaver nos muestran que gana mas imagén y la edición es genial, espero que Warner :reza: nos complazca con el R4 ya que indudablemente se necesita de subs en esta edición con muchos extras 8)

Nop si vas al link de DVDBeaver de arriba, podras ver que son solo 2 de las capturas que la web hizo. 8)

si se dan cuenta, en las especificaciones dice que el aspecto de la pelicula es de 2.76 : 1, esto explica porqué la version anterior estaba "cortada". La pelicula es exageradamente ancha, sobrepasando el comun 2.35:1. Yo sabía que era más ancha de lo "normal", pero no tanto.
