Cita:To celebrate Universal’s 100th Anniversary, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is being released on blu-ray for the first time in October 2012. The film stars Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore, Dee Wallace, and Peter Coyote. When it was released theatrically in 1982, it was the biggest film of the year and held the #1 spot for over 16 weekends. It also still holds the spot for the 4th most successful movie of all time in the USA. It won 4 Academy Awards including Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound, and Best Music for the score composed by John Williams.
The blu-ray is a combo pack, which includes the blu-ray version, DVD version, and Digital Copy, and an UltraViolet version of the film. The release features an all new, digitally remastered version of the film and a new 7.1 surround sound track,
