Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is climbing the charts as his quarterback rating currently stands at 100.1.
He is 4-0 as a starter and earned praise from Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells last week.
He has been voted as the NFL’s rookie of the week for three straight weeks and is nominated again this week for the honor.
What more can you say about a young quarterback who was expected to spend this season on the sidelines learning?
“I can’t say enough about Ben,” said head coach Bill Cowher of his performance against the Cowboys. “I thought this was going to be a good test for him and it was. He made some plays. He stays in there versus the rush, he eludes it. He sees guys that are open. I thought he played a really solid game. He stood in there, got his ankle and knee hit, and fought through it.”
Wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who has been putting extra time in with Roethlisberger, even away from the team’s practice facility, likes what he is seeing from the rookie.
"It's something new to have a scrambling quarterback back there,” said Burress “We haven't had that since I've been here. He's making safe decisions and gives us an opportunity to go get the ball and make plays. It's like we are freelancing it sometimes. He's reading me. I'm reading him. As long as we stay on the same page, we're going to be successful."
