The Hollywood studios supporting HD DVD announced a total of 89 titles to be available for the launch. Warner Home Video, which is spearheading the effort, will launch with some 50 titles — actually a much stronger collection than Warner offered for the launch of DVD in 1997. Titles include Ocean's 12, The Polar Express, and Troy, plus the three Harry Potter and Matrix movies. Paramount will be ready with more than 20 titles, including Braveheart, The Manchurian Candidate (the new one), and Mission Impossible 2. Universal's 16 titles included Van Helsing, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Chronicles of Riddick. And HBO plans to release the TV series The Sopranos and two miniseries: Angels in America and From the Earth to the Moon.
