Noviembre 16
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the action/adventure movie The Last Airbender, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, for Blu-ray release on November 16, in two editions: a two-disc BD/DVD Digital Copy combo pack and a single-disc Blu-ray. It will feature "over two hours of in-depth, behind-the-scenes special features" (albeit most of them on the combo only). Although this movie was shown theatrically in 3D (converted in post-production from native 2D), no 3D Blu-ray edition has been announced as of yet.
Special features include:
Avatar Annotations (Picture-in-picture on select scenes) – Insights with cast and crew
Discovering The Last Airbender (nine-part documentary in HD)
Inspirations – Co-creators of the show and M. Night Shyamalan give insight into the inner journey the characters take
Spirituality – Explore the deeper spirituality that colors The Last Airbender
Heroes – Aang, Katara and Sokka journey together to save the world; behind-the-scenes piece provides a closer look at these characters and the actors
Greenland – With sub-zero shoots on glaciers and frozen rivers, travel with the filmmakers to Greenland to meet the locals and experience the magnificent landscapes captured for the powerful opening of the film
World – The sets, props, costumes and make-up that helped bring to life four unique nations in the film, each with a distinct look and style
Action – With the film's "bending" rooted in Martial Arts, uncover Shyamalan's process with Noah Ringer to create complex, heart-pounding action sequences
Effects – Closer look at the jaw-dropping cinematography and special effects that were created to blend seamlessly with ILM's computer generated imagery
Music – Longtime creative collaboration between M. Night Shyamalan and composer James Newton Howard is celebrated in the film's sweeping score
Finale – The journey culminates in one breathtaking moment on the ice wall
Siege of the North: Get transported to the frozen realm of the Northern Water Tribe and the largest indoor film set ever built on the U.S. east coast (in HD)
Origins of the Avatar: Birth of the mythology from the original co-creators of the animated show, Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Concept art from the popular series provides further perspective into how the story would eventually reincarnate into an epic feature film (in HD; also available on single-disc BD)
Katara for a Day: Spend a day on the set with Nicola Peltz (in HD) Deleted scenes (in HD; also available on single-disc BD)
Outtakes (in HD; also available on single-disc BD)

Shyamalan ya está ponchado, lleva tres strikes seguidos (TLA, The Happening, Lady in the Water).

Shyamalan ya está ponchado, lleva tres strikes seguidos (TLA, The Happening, Lady in the Water).

1.-Origins of the Avatar (HD, 7 min) — As the title indicates, this short piece is an interesting look at the origins of the animated series. It's really a straightforward interview with the show's creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, where they discuss how they meet and how random ideas eventually evolved into a regular program for the Nickelodeon station. Even if one is not a fan or familiar with the series, it always fascinating to learn the backstory of any creative project.
2.-Gag Reel (HD, 4 min) — This is unfunny assortment of cast and crew acting silly on the set, mostly showing everyone making faces, speaking gibberish, or dancing weirdly (and then they stop reading from the script!).
3.-Deleted Scenes (HD, 11 min) — Four scenes that didn't make it to the final cut of the movie are collected here, none of which would added anything of quality. They're really just extended fight scenes and a few bits of dialogue.
4.-Avatar Annotations — This PiP feature allows viewers to watch behind-the-scenes footage and cast/crew interviews while enjoying the movie. Discussions range from casting and character motivations to specific areas of the production and the ambitions of the movie's success. Although not a true commentary, the track functions much the same because it's edited and pieced together to appear only during certain scenes. Everyone spends a good amount of time talking about working with each other and some thoughts on Shyamalan as a filmmaker. Fans are likely to enjoy this more than anyone else.
5.-Discovering The Last Airbender (HD, 58 min) — Broken into nine segments that can be watched separately or in succession, this nauseating making-of documentary covers pretty much every aspect of the production. Things kick off with the backstory of the plot and the spiritual themes explored in the movie and the original series. It features many interviews with cast and crew talking extensively about the characters, shooting in Greenland, and the visual special effects. There are also discussions on designing the costumes and the fantasy world, as well as a closer look on the stunt choreography of one complex battle sequence. The hour-long doc finishes with a conversation on the musical score and a few thoughts on the final, climatic scene. Overall, it's a bloated piece with a great deal of self-congratulatory hoopla.
6.-Siege of the North (HD, 19 min) — This is a closer and more involving look at the movie's third act, of designing the amazing ice city. Interviews and video footage reveal that extensive work not only went into the highly-detailed set but also into the fight choreography. Out of the entire package, I would say this is the most interesting.
7.-Katara for a Day (HD, 6 min) — Nicola Peltz takes viewers into a day in the life of being the Katara character. We watch the young actress in costume receive make-up, do a scene, be schooled, and finally wrap for the day.
Gracias.
