A newly reconstructed version of Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this February. The 1925 Soviet silent classic dramatized the mutiny onboard the Russian battleship, which led to a failed 1905 uprising. The film now will include an opening quote from Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin's rival Leon Trotsky which was ordered removed from the film in what the festival called "one of the most spectacular cases of censorship in the 1920s." The film screens on February 12th and 13th. In other Potemkin news, the Pet Shop Boys plan to release their score for the film onto CD. The duo's commissioned score premiered at a free outdoor concert screening in London's Trafalgar Square on September 12th 2004. Look for both the CD and a proposed DVD of the event later in 2005.
