The first release will be a "10 Best Episode" 2 DVD set from the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series which is scheduled to be launched at retail in July 2005 in conjunction with the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con International convention. This release will be followed later in the fall of 2005 with the first of multiple DVD box sets of the complete series in "season" format, plus comprehensive and generous special features.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an important landmark in children's television history, being the first nationally syndicated television program based on a successful toy line. Originally produced from 1983-1985 by world renowned Filmation studios and syndicated until 1990, He- Man and the Masters of the Universe has experienced consistent popularity over the years, demonstrated by its two subsequent animated series which aired in 1990 - 1991 and 2002 - 2004 as well as its multi-year run as an exceptionally successful toy and merchandising line.

The other day we posted a press release which mentioned that a 10 episode "Best of" for He-Man was coming in July, and season sets coming later. He-Man.org, in conjunction with BCI, has posted a poll which allows you to pick the episodes for the DVD set. They've narrowed down each season to 10 episodes, and now they're asking you to rank the episodes from 1-10. You have until 11:59pm EST on March 20th, and the results will be posted the next day.

BCI told us that there would be a huge amount of involvement from the online fan community, so it's nice to see them off to a good start. Hmm...I wonder what BCI could do with other animated shows...

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - First DVD Release Announced! Episode List, Extras, BOX ART, Press Release, Screen Shots, + Plans For 2nd Release!


My power sword is drawn, and I'm ready to say the magic words! BCI Eclipse today made the announcement for the first-ever North American DVD release of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. As foretold in BCI's previous press release, the first DVD set is a "10 Best Episode" 2 DVD set from the original 1983 series. The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - Best 10 Episode Collector's Edition will arrive in stores on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, and - as orginally planned - will be launched at retail in conjunction with the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con International convention.

As we reported, a poll taken at He-Man.org, the most powerful He-Man fansite in the universe, was used to determine the 10 episodes which would be published on this 2-DVD set. The top 5 episodes from Season 1 and the top 5 from Season 2 were chosen to occupy the digital realm of this release, along with many extras (some of which we hinted at recently). Here are the complete contents of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - Best 10 Episode Collector's Edition, counting down the episodes to the most favorite ones from the polls:

Los Angeles, CA - One of the most requested - and anticipated - animation series ever created is heading to DVD. The recent agreement between BCI Eclipse, a Navarre Corporation Company, and UK media company Entertainment Rights granted BCI the license to distribute all 130 episodes of the classic "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" animated series on DVD. BCI Eclipse is currently working on an initial two-year release strategy, and the first, two-disc set - available July 12th during the week of the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con International convention - will be a special, 10 episode Collector's Edition, and include a groundbreaking number of extra features. The announcement was made today by Greg Glass, Senior Vice President, BCI Eclipse.


"As studios and independent suppliers release television programming on DVD, one of the most requested shows for DVD release over the years has been the original 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe,'" said Glass. "We have not only acquired the rights to this classic '80s, iconic animation series, but have spent many hours interviewing virtually all of the key players in the creation and production of the series. The initial Collector's Edition is just the beginning of what 'He-Man' fans will see over the course of the next 18 months."


Mike Heap, CEO, Entertainment Rights, added, "We had the opportunity to work with a number of partners for 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe' and decided to partner with BCI because of their innovative marketing approach to He-Man. "The Best of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" will feature five of the all-time best episodes from season one (disc one) and five of the all-time best episodes from season two (disc two). The "best of" episodes were chosen in part by "He-Man's" multitude of fans through voting on the <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.He-Man.org">http://www.He-Man.org</a><!-- w --> website. In addition, each disc in the Collector's Edition will feature documentary interviews with a variety of talent involved with the original series, including Emmy-award winning writers, directors, artists, and others working behind the scenes. These first two documentaries, produced and directed by best-selling entertainment writer Andy Mangels, are the beginning of a 16-part documentary series produced by BCI Eclipse for release in future "season" box sets.


The two-disc set will also include two 4" x 6" He-Man art cards, which will feature one-of-a-kind renderings of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe characters drawn by two of the world's most famous comic book artists. These first two cards will be part of a collector series of 16 cards released throughout the "season" box set series - each displaying the work of another world-famous comic book artist.


The Collector's Edition will include two exclusive art cards by Bruce Timm and Adam Hughes. Timm is one of the world's finest animators, well known for his contributions building the modern DC Comics cartoon franchise. Timm landed his first animation job in 1981 with Filmation Studios where he worked on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra Princess of Power and a variety of others. A mi en lo personal me gustaban mucho estas caricaturas y en lo personal me gustaría tener todos los capítulos, así que me voy a esperar a que editan completas las temporadas, el doblaje no me es muy importante ya que consciente estoy que de otra manera no te vas a poder hacer de ellos como sucede con los de Speed Racer.

:o :o :o :o :o :o Qué??? pero si todo mundo las veia, soy de esa generación de muñecos, y debo confesar que al principio no me gustaban, pero después de ver la colección de un conocido, ahhh hock: fui asiduo comprador de los monos, eso si tuve que ahorra muuucho, recuerdo que mi He-Man (el primer mono que compre) me costo $1000 pesos, osea 1 peso de ahora, pero que para un niño era ahorrar varios domingos y dinero del recreo.

Como me daba risa ver que He-Man promovía bebidas alcohólicas, y más risa me dió cuando vi que esa no era la voz real de Saúl Lisazo, jaja. (que quieren... era niño y pensaba que el lo doblaba)

Me parece genial que en los DVDs region 1 se preocupen más por el audio en español, que en los propios de region 4.
He-Man si fue de las caricaturas más vistas y más vendidas en cuanto a muñecos (yo también he de admitir que aún tengo mi colección de muñecos, tigres..aunque siempre me falto el castillo)
Por cierto la voz de He-Man era el Sr. Rubén Moya, quien efectivamente también doblaba a Saúl Lisazo en esos comerciales. Skeletor era el fallecido Alvaro Tarcicio y Teela era Romy Mendoza, que son las voces que tengo más presentes.

No sé si te refieras a una película -también la ví de niño- que pasaron en el cine y de la cual recuerdo que fue la introducción de SHE-RA.

Esta película desde luego era en dibujos animados, pero hoy en día no hay video o dvd que de referencia a ella.

¿Alguién la llegó a ver?

Tenía un título como "El secreto de la Espada" o algo parecido... :?

Si, esa película la ví en el cine, y creo que se llame "El misterio de la espada", y ahí es donde dicen que He-man tiene una hermana que es She-ra, alguna vez se edito en VHS porque la he visto en el Videocentro de Coatza

Hola Marcelo, yo creo que esta semana me estará llegando el boxset que pedí por amazon, en cuanto lo tenga, te puedo pasar el dato.

Posiblemente haya otro vacuno que te proporcione el dato... si no es así, pues ya te lo confirmaré :wink:

Esto menciona un miembro de dvdmania sobre su R1, y lo que ha encontrado, para aquellos que quieran comprarla tendran que tener cuidado. :o

Bueno les comento que compre el he-man volumen 1 a bazar digital y el pack vino impecable, sellado sin golpes ni nada, los dvd en sus respectivos lugares, pero cuando lo abri y saque despacio los discos 1, 2, y 3 tenian flor de rayaduras en el dvd que daban miedo porque eran rayaduras muy gruesas y grises profundas, no eran ese tipico rayado de hilo, estas eran feas,como rayadas por una moneda..

Entonces empeze con el Disco1 a verlo en la tele y por el tercer capitulo se empezaba a colgar el dvdplayer, se colgaba y se colgaba 5 segundos y tocaba 1 segundo y se colgaba 5 segundos mas. Que decepción.
Luego dije, por ahi es el dvd player, lo meto en la pc para verlo con el powerdvd y mismo problema se colgaba el programa, en la misma zona donde se colgaba en el dvdplayer de mesa.

En los discos 4, 5, y 6 existen rayaduras pero muy chicas y finitas, probe uno de esos dvd y toco sin problemas.

Lo llame a bazar y mañana le llevo el pack a la mensajeria, espero que pueda conseguirme algun pack de he-man sin problemas en los dvd porque estuve averiguando en he-man.org en los foros y hay muchos yankees que tienen el mismo problema en los dvd. Al parecer vienen dvds rayados de fabrica pero algunas personas tubieron suerte y les tocaron dvds sin problema alguno.

Pues a mí aún no me llega, pero no creo que se esté presentando a tanta gente este problema...
