Equilibrium (**Zima**)
#4
Esta es una de mis favoritas; Bale Rocks!!

El BD no lo han sacado bien en ningún lado mas que en Japón, si Zima llega a igualar la presentación (si es que saca el BD), se van a ganar una Estrellita jaja.

USA (Echo Bridge): 1080p VC-1 on a BD-25. AR: 1.78. English 2.0 DTS-HDMA Stereo. ...What? ...Why? ...How? ...Who In Their Right Mind?!?! ...you get the point.
UK (Momentum): 1080p VC-1 on a BD-25. AR: 1.78. English 5.1 Dolby Digital. Incorrect aspect ratio and a lossy audio track?? Inexcusable.
Canada (Alliance): 1080p MPEG4-AVC on a BD-25. AR: 1.78. English 5.1 DTS-HDMA. Though the PQ on this release is strong, the 1.78 aspect ratio is still something that is unforgivable (more as to why later). The soundtrack is excellent, and as stated above, seems practically identical to the Japanese release.
Holland (E1 Entertainment): 1080p VC-1 on a BD-25. AR: 2.39. English 5.1 DTS-HDMA. They were on the right track by releasing this movie in its correct aspect ratio, but the PQ itself is unfortunately full of glitches. It suffers from excessive edge enhancement, some color dullness which throws off the black levels, some soft shots, and there are noticeable artifacts during certain shots as well. To add to the glitchy PQ, there's more! Though only a few times throughout the film, the audio does begin to lag behind, causing a sync problem...which eventually corrects itself...but happens again...etc, etc...Soooo...this blu was on the right track, but again, it's just another inexcusable release. Also, for those who are stuck with region A, this release does provide problematic PAL trailers before the movie.
Japan (Sony): Read above. Wow, someone got it right!!!

Now to clear something up: I've noticed on the various forums that there are many people inquiring as to the difference between the aspect ratios 1.78 and 2.39 presented in the blu-ray releases of "Equilibrium."

"Equilibrium" was, in fact, designed to be viewed in 2.39. But, for those curious, the movie was shot in open-matte format. But, more picture DOES NOT mean more movie. For instance, since "Equilibrium" was shot with 2.39 in mind, ALL scenes that use CG are CROPPED, as CG was not processed on that "extra space." In comparison (1.78 vs. 2.39), scenes in 1.78 seem less emotional, emptier, less focused, provide too much head room, too much space, and even appear somewhat sloppy. But, in 2.39, everything fits. All the action scenes are as intense and fast-paced as they were meant to be, and the picture ends up portraying the atmosphere of Libria better by a long shot. And, even though flawed...for these reasons alone, this is why I had to list the problematic Holland release a step above the Canadian one.

As a rule of blu-ray.com, I am not allowed to post external links. But, if you would like to search for comparison shots, they are easy enough to find. If not, I would be glad to PM you back a website with a few comparison shots if you are curious.
¡VIVE EL BLUCENTENARIO!
