Peter Jackson producira 'Halo'

Habia el rumor de que Peter Jackson productor de la adaptación cinematográfica de Universal del videojuego ultra-vendido HALO habia ofrecido dirigir la cinta al director mexicano Guillermo del Toro, el cual confirma la noticia:

""A little white back, there was news that Peter Jackson, producer on the upcoming videogame movie “Halo”, had asked “Hellboy’s” Guillermo Del Toro to take the directing reins.

Now the job offer has been confirmed — by del Toro himself.

Says the UK’s Empire Online: However, del Toro – who’s currently in Madrid, where he’s in post-production on his new Spanish-language fantasy film, “Pan’s Labyrinth” – is torn between committing to the Universal movie, or reuniting with his favourite comic character for “Hellboy 2?.

Except “Hellboy 2? hasn’t been greenlit yet, despite strong DVD sales. The movie didn’t perform all that well at the box office.

So well del Toro take Jackson’s job offer?

The portly one replies: “Well, Halo is very much an interesting project because it’s so full of monsters. It’s a big temptation. I’m in talks with them [Universal and Bungie Films] and Peter, but it’s not true that it’s on and Hellboy’s off. Hellboy’s on. If everything goes as planned, Hellboy will go.”

So there you go. If he has his way, del Toro would rather do “Hellboy 2?, but if he could, he’d like to do both.

My thinking is that he’ll probably end up doing both. There’s no hurry to get “Halo” made post haste. It’s not like there’s a timetable, and Jackson is probably too busy with shilling for “King Kong” to go into production anytime soon on “Halo”.

I say wait, and then let the man do both “Hellboy 2? and “Halo” in 2006. It’s not like directing two movies has never been done before. Didn’t Spielberg once do three movies in one year? ""
